3 minute wonder research

3 minute wonder research

A 3 minute wonder is a short documentary piece that would have been broadcast on channel 4. It's  a great opportunity for first time directors to showcase their talents. Very often young directors trying to break into the industry.

The aim of a 3 minute wonder is to enable young directors to have an opportunity to show their talents and to show things the directors are passionate about

3 minute wonders are typically about serious topics that are very personal to the maker of the documentary

I really liked "The Wall- Andy Seize" because it was very personal and Andy Seize was obviously very passionate about street art, he was very interesting to watch because it seemed like he enjoyed talking to the camera so it felt natural. It was also very interesting to see the process of making a piece of street art.The art he was painting was amazing and it was amazing to see him create it.

From the video I learned the process of making a piece of street art and how much time it usually takes and how passionate people can be about the art they're creating.

I also really liked "Three Ball total Equilibrium Tank- by Jeff Koons" because it shows what a variety of different teens think about very highly thought of art. I thought this was interesting because the group of teens had very different opinions and thoughts about the piece especially because the younger generation isn't typically the type that would like art like this.

I learned about how a lot of peoples opinions on one piece of art. This was a very opinionated 3mw, there aren't any facts it's just peoples opinions.

I also really liked "The Wall- Burning Candy" because it show a similar but different perspective from The Wall-Andy Seize, because this one is more about what street art means. It also shows different kind of peoples opinions to street art and how it is made. The piece of art in this video was made by a group of artists so it was interesting seeing them all do their part to make something big.

I learned a lot of different peoples opinions on street art and what it means to them. It also showed a how a community could come together and make some street art.

On channel  not a lot of the shows that were broadcast were documentaries, roughly a quarter, none of them were at peak time, mainly late morning. I also looked at E4 for the same day and there weren't any documentaries, E4 has a very different demographic.

In may 2019 documentaries had 15.08% share of the audience, which is the third most viewed genre.
