Continuity video

We used natural lighting for the whole video, to make it seem more realistic and because we filmed it all outside. Because of only using natural light we weren't able to achieve any highly technical lighting techniques.

most of the angles are level with the character, this is to show that he isn't powerful or weak. It's meant to make the audience feel on the same level as him.

If we were to film it again, I think it would be good to include more variety in the height of the shots.

Most of the shots were close ups of the main character to make it seem more personal. But there is some variety in the shots, there is a long shot to establish the second character. This wide angle also shows how lonely the main character is, because of all the cars that are driving past.

There is a pan right at the start of the video to establish what the main character is seeing. Si this is both a pan and an establishing shot. There are some simple shots that don't have much camera movement.

At the point in the video where the main character finds the other half of his heart, there is a zoom shot of the second characters face to show the surprise.

The 180 degree rule wasn't much of a problem because there wasn't a lot of walking in the video. Although there was one point. In these shots the character leaves the shot on the left side and enters the next frame on the right.

There is an establishing shot at the start that is also a eye line match cut. This is also a POV shot because it's from the point of view of the character.

Still image connotation task

This wide shot of a boy sitting in a corridor represents being lonely. The darkness in this shot is important because it emphasises the feeling of loneliness, because the visual darkness is often linked to the feeling on darkness.The picture is also in a thin corridor this is to make to seem smaller and like the walls are closing in the the subject in the shot.

This shop represents poverty. The subjects hands are cupped in the typical beggar position. but there are more subtle reasons. Like the shot is a high shot, which means it's looking down on the subject which implies that the subject is inferior to the audience. Also the clothes that the subject is wearing look a bit old and dirty.

This shot shows purity because the grass at the bottom represents nature and the purity of nature. Then in the middle of the frame there is a play ground, which shows the purity and innocence of children and the very bright white sky supports the idea of white is pure. It is a low shot to represent a small pure innocent animal.             

This shot shows innocence because the subject on the right is unaware of the subject behind him. The subject on the left is higher than the subject on the right. this shows that he has power over the other. the surroundings also imply innocence, there is nothing out of place, it looks like a peaceful field, which is contrasted by the subject on the left       

              This shot shows friendship, firstly the surrounding are considered typical friendly nice things, e.g. the field and the line of trees in the background, this is emphasised with the wide angle shot, the subjects are in the middle, therefore attracting the most attention but they're not the only focus of the shot. The subjects are in high five, which represents friendship.

This shot represents love because of the the centre of the shot is a love heart. The background is out of focus, this is to emphasise the the love heart. Also the subjects face is taking up most of the shot, which is blocking out the background which also highlights the love heart. It is a close up shot because the feeling of love is is something very strong and personal so the fact there there is barely anything else in the shot show how powerful the emotion is.
